Subject: Statement of purpose (SOP)

Respected Visa Officer,

Introduction

The use of various networking devices and various simulators to track the network at full speed with higher frequency as transmission devices are being invented to transfer data in high frequencies and to track the network's speed is bringing about the creation of different but in which these kinds of transmissions, the science and technology era is becoming more modern by the day established. However, since most of Nepal's land is rural and is located in mountainous areas, we must know how the devices are made to have transmission media or transmission devices that can provide network access and communications technology in these areas. I wanted to learn more about this topic and enroll in a course that covers these topics because these kinds of cases cannot be found in Nepal due to a lack of workforce. I registered for the computer systems technician course at Fanshawe College because it met the requirements and covered the topic I sought. So, I introduce myself as Student Name, son of Father’s Name and Mother’s Name, and a permanent resident of Damak Municipality, ward number-5, where the area still needs to be fully networked but still in the process of being developed. I am writing this statement of purpose to share my desire to study in Canada and my academic Background, Financial status, why this course, why not my home country, and my plans after completing this course. The information provided here will be trustworthy and reliable.

Academic Background

As per my academic background, I completed my grade 10(secondary education examination) from School Name with a 3.2 GPA in computer engineering. Since my early days, I have been interested in computer systems which always made me wonder how the computer can only take information in the form of (0,1)  binary digit and gives us meaningful output in a format that a user can easily understand. I continued my higher-level education at School Name, graduating in 2021 with a 3.16 GPA in computer engineering.

During my schooling days, I learn different computer subjects such as Databases, Hardware, microprocessors, digital logic, and other topics. These subjects were basically for someone who wants to gain theoretical knowledge in a computer which was only specialized to be productive in the field of teaching in some computer institute rather than for someone who wants to be specialized in the computer field at an intermediate level rather than for some wants who wish to work at a high level in fully advanced tech companies. However, this course did not fill the exceptions, which didn't cover in full depth, so I was more curious to learn about these topics. So to target my goals, I gave an IELTS exam on May 28, 2022, in which I achieved an overall 6.5, at least 6.

Why computer systems technician

I've always been curious about computer systems and different operating systems, such as Linux, windows which have other characteristics. I've been interested in them since I was young. I also took an interest in them when I was in school. I still recall the times in school when I completed a project using the Cisco Packet Tracer Simulator and received the highest marks in my practice. Since then, I've been inspired to carry out similar tasks and learn more. Technology is becoming increasingly essential today, causing its demand to rise in Nepal, where particular issues with poor internet connections bother me. In some areas, there are also no telecommunications or internet services, meaning that people in rural areas still have to travel far distances to communicate, causing more issues for them.  Therefore I decided to enroll in Fanshawe College, which offers quality and practical knowledge, as the computer systems technician course covers all the topics needed to be a system administrator and network engineer and to solve these kinds of problems.

Why not in Nepal?

As soon as I passed my +2 exam, I decided to look for a good program and college focused on networking with a specialization in computer systems. These programs and colleges favored practical teaching and training methodologies with adequate practical knowledge rather than knowledge solely based on theory. I conducted an internet search using https://edusanjal.com/ and discovered a course called a Bachelor in Information Technology and Bachelor in Computer Engineering at several universities, including Tribhuvan university (https://tribhuvan-university.edu.np/), Kathmandu university (https://ku.edu.np/programs) Purbanchal University (https://purbanchaluniversity.edu.np), Pokhara University (https://pu.edu.np/),. These were excellent courses, but I need more to complete all the core competencies required to compete in the modern world. I also didn't find them appropriate because they included topics like physics and chemistry, which destroyed my interest. As a result, the course was primarily technical and attempted to skip the practical application of electronic devices. However, there were also far too many unwelcome topics included in it.

Nearly all of Nepal's educational institutions continue to use the same teaching approach as in the past, placing little emphasis on the practical side of learning. I also learned that the instructor was inactive and that the course needed to be finished appropriately for the student to prepare for the exam. Many people still need more study and understanding for implementation in the workplace after graduation. I learned that a few institutions offer foreign qualifications and are affiliated with the UK, such as Softwarica College and Islington College. These institutions have a national curriculum that is very different from the national curriculum of Nepal because they have adopted the respective universities' curricula; however, they also have poor teaching methods. There is also a severe shortage of lecturers with less training and expertise. Qualified professors offer only a limited number of classes, but since they are located in their respective nations, users should take their courses online. Consequently, studying in Nepal needs more exposure to the remainder of the world, and the degrees and certificates it issues are not highly regarded. However, studying abroad means exposure to various multinational societies and gaining international recognition.

Why Canada?

My main motive for choosing Canada is that Canada provides quality education by implementing a practical and modern way of teaching since it has a favorable environment and is regarded as one of the peaceful countries to study for international students. The living cost and college fees are also cheaper compared to other countries. Canada is a multicultural country with different overseas students from around the world. Compared to my country Canada's primary focus is on practical knowledge that is required to implement in the work field with theoretical expertise by creating a balance between theoretical and practical knowledge on project-based learning, which drives me towards it. Hence, receiving a degree from a Canadian institute will be a bonus for my career and strengthen my profile while I work in the tech world in my country.

Why Fanshawe College?

After deciding to study in Canada, one of the most important decisions I had to make was which College to attend out of all the alternatives. After scheduling an appointment to speak with representatives from various colleges, I started my research by talking with seniors in one particular college. I also spoke with seniors and academic experts before deciding on Fanshawe College, which has earned excellent feedback compared to other colleges. After looking at the course structure on the Fanshawe College website, which I considered exceptionally well structured, I found it much simpler to decide on Fanshawe College. It covers networking fundamentals, databases, and operating systems, focusing more in-depth on networking and switching, Linux, and CCNA. It also covers courses such as help desk support that are necessary to put into practice in the workplace. It also allows the student to complete some technical projects to use as experience and gain practical knowledge.

In comparison to other colleges, the computer systems technician course provides the knowledge needed to become a certified network engineer and system administrator with the implementation of both theoretical and practical knowledge. I tried to find classes of this nature that were equally appropriate and comprehensive in their explanations of other networking devices and computer systems. This course will help me find an environment to work in the real world.

Financial Arrangement

Concerning my sponsorship, my family will provide funds for my living expenses while in Canada, covering my tuition fee as I have already paid my annual tuition fee ($17423.29) to Fanshawe college. My father has already deposited the necessary funds in the bank to cover the expenses and tuition fees of attending school in Canada. In addition to this letter, further financial documents, including proof of income and tax clearance, are also provided. I can guarantee that since my family is well-settled in Nepal and has a reliable source of income, there won't be any financial difficulties while I'm studying in Canada.

Future plans and Goals

I'll graduate from my computer systems technician program with honors. After that, I'll return to Nepal to develop that part of my nation. I aspire to use the knowledge and abilities I've picked up in developed countries like Canada to advance the growth of the IT sector in my native nation. IT experts are in high demand in private and public organizations, and Nepal is a land of opportunity. In Nepal, the field of information technology is also expanding quickly. The Nepalese are also gradually becoming tech-savvy. However, various businesses like Deer Walk, Nepal Telecom, Wordlink, Classictech, and some banks like Nic Asia, NMB, Siddhartha, and Global Ime are the businesses and banks that give me the services. Since many of these companies are looking for products from abroad, having a Canadian qualification as a computer systems technician will provide me with an excellent opportunity to understand the Nepal IT companies. I am looking to get a job as a systems administrator in such companies where the job in the role of the system administrator is very crucial to a role these companies' entire company systems and are data managed by the system administrator, and the demands of these jobs are also high in Nepal. I will also involve and prevent the country from losing data and cyber-attacks. To keep up with the changing environment in information technology, I will be updating myself as per the need of the time.  By utilizing the benefits of IT, the Department of Information Technology of the Government of Nepal aims to establish good governance, alleviate poverty, and achieve national development targets. They do this by developing e-Infrastructure to facilitate and promote e-governance, developing Information Technology Enabled Services (IT-ITeS) Industry, and securing cyberspace. This will open up positions in Nepal where I can actively engage in government relations and influence the IT sector.

I was my family's responsible child. My emotional attachment to my family and the love and care I have received from them are the main reasons I am returning to my native country. Being away from my family, my most significant source of happiness, is something I can't do for long. Most importantly, after finishing my education, I won't have anything to do in Canada other than check off my bucket list of things to do in Nepal, so I'll surely return home. I feel responsible for caring for my parents in their old age because the concept of family is still strong in our society and culture, and every child is deeply ingrained with this idea. I have the responsibility and desire to be with my parents during their old age and make a living as comfortable for them as possible. I also need to care for my parental properties and assets.  Besides, I have my childhood friends, family, and relatives in my country whom I can meet at many religious functions I can never get in a foreign land among strangers.so I will have a social life here. Nothing can compete with having my family by my side and enjoying a promising career and a satisfying life serving my nation with international experience and qualifications.

Finally, I sincerely thank you for your patience during my statement of purpose. I promise to respect all Canadian laws and regulations. I'm hoping for a positive response from your side.

Yours Sincerely,
